Our president released a statement today at a white house diner in honor of Ramadan.
From the Fox News article listed below:
“As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country,” Obama said, weighing in for the first time on a controversy that has riven New York City and the nation.
That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances,” he said. “This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable.”
I whole heartily agree with the opposition on this. Yes they have the right to build it where ever they want, but it is not in good taste and very insensitive to all Americans. Muslims attacked and killed 3000+ American citizens less than 10 years ago a few blocks away. And they want to open it on the 10 year anniversary of the attack, 9/11/2011? Are you kidding me? How can that possibly be in good taste? How can that not be a slap in the face? And for our president to stand with them?
Now I have seen just about everything, we are dipping to new lows.
My heart goes out to those that were personally impacted by the 9/11 attack and lost friends or family. You will be in my prayers. And know that Americans do not stand with our president on this one, and my heart tells me that neither does God. All we can do is take it to him in prayer, justice belongs to Him.
May God bless you and comfort you!
