This is deception on several levels. First, all the MSM stories you see are about how all combat troops have been pulled out and Iraqi’s are ready to stand on their own. Our VP even gave a speech on it today, I haven’t had a chance to listen to the content.
But really we still have 50,000 troops still over there. Heavy, Infantry and Stryker units that have just been renamed. That’s still a lot of troops, and whats up with this renaming thing, are we really that sensitive as a world that renaming them makes it all ok.
Does “Advice and Assist Brigades” really match what the article says the troop capabilities are? Somehow this doesn’t feel right…
Just remember to keep those 50,000 Advice and Assist soldiers in your prayers, we have not pulled out completely, nor will we for quite some time…

Combat brigades in Iraq under different name
Posted : Saturday Aug 21, 2010 16:10:59 EDT
As the final convoy of the Army’s 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Lewis, Wash., entered Kuwait early Thursday, a different Stryker brigade remained in Iraq.
Soldiers from the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the 25th Infantry Division are deployed in Iraq as members of an Advise and Assist Brigade, the Army’s designation for brigades selected to conduct security force assistance.
So while the “last full U.S. combat brigade” have left Iraq, just under 50,000 soldiers from specially trained heavy, infantry and Stryker brigades will stay, as well as two combat aviation brigades.
