This article has two significant prophecy impacts.
First, it was prophesied that oil could be found at specific areas of Israel. There was a company founded, Zion Oil, specifically to explore based on the prophecy and they have hit it big. Huge finds of oil and natural gas right where God had predicted. Amazing! This was the story that really got me going on bible prophecy and I have followed ever since.
Second, it is said in Ezekiel 38 scripture that God put hooks in Magog (Russia) and pulled them south to plunder Israel as a motive for the attempted invasion. The question that has stood open is what could they be after. Israel had nothing that its surrounding neighbors had, all oil rich nations. But God had saved the best for last and hid the prophecy until the appropriate time for it to be discovered.
Now based on the projections, Russia will have some competition in the natural gas space, currently, Europe is highly dependent on Russia’s supplies, but now not only does Israel have enough to be self-sufficient for the next several decades (six), but also has enough to export.

Israeli waters may hold large oil reserves
JERUSALEM
The Israeli partners in a U.S.-led consortium developing a natural gas field off the Mediterranean coast say that up to 4.2 billion barrels of oil may lie under the seafloor in Israeli waters.
If confirmed, the find would mark the first significant oil reserves for Israel.
The Delek Group said in a statement Sunday that there is a 17 percent chance of finding 3 billion barrels at a depth of 19,000 feet (5,800) and an 8 percent likelihood of finding 1.2 billion barrels about 4,600 feet (1,400 meters) deeper.
Analyst Amit Mor says energy firms usually drill if there is at least a 10 percent chance of success.
