The headline “Sinking of Kremlin gas project leaves south-east Europe high and dry” caught my attention this afternoon.  The EU has won out against Russia and a planned gas pipeline has been cancelled that would have supplied gas to south-eastern Europe.  They are now left with the problem where to get the Gas from?

Gee, who just discovered the largest world-wide supply of Natural Gas, just off their shore?

Who is located near the south-eastern portion of the EU?

If you guessed Israel you are correct!

I believe we are seeing the “hook in the mouth” of Ezekiel 38 beginning to be set.

Ezekiel 38 (NASB)

Prophecy about Gog and Future Invasion of Israel

38 And the word of the Lord came to me saying, “Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the [a]prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him and say, ‘Thus says the Lord [b]God, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, [c]prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal. I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them [d]splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords; Persia, [e]Ethiopia and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops—many peoples with you.

“Be prepared, and prepare yourself, you and all your companies that are assembled about you, and be a guard for them. After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many [f]nations to the mountains of Israel which had been a continual waste; but [g]its people were brought out from the [h]nations, and they are living securely, all of them. You will go up, you will come like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your troops, and many peoples with you.”

10 ‘Thus says the Lord God, “It will come about on that day, that [i]thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil plan, 11 and you will say, ‘I will go up against the land of [j]unwalled villages. I will go against those who are at rest, that live securely, all of them living without walls and having no bars or gates, 12 to capture spoil and to seize plunder, to turn your hand against the waste places which are now inhabited, and against the people who are gathered from the nations, who have acquired cattle and goods, who live at the [k]center of the world.’ 13 Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish with all its [l]villages will say to you, ‘Have you come to capture spoil? Have you assembled your company to seize plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to capture great spoil?’”’ (Emphasis Mine)

And who did Russia turn to to for the new pipeline destination?  Turkey.  The 38 Alliance is beginning to take shape, Turkey, Russia, and Iran.

Sinking of Kremlin gas project leaves south-east Europe high and dry
The European Union’s diplomatic victory in forcing the Kremlin to cancel its South Stream pipeline also gives Brussels a headache: how to come up with an alternative source of secure gas supply for south-eastern Europe.

Putin drops South Stream gas pipeline to EU, courts Turkey
Russia on Monday scrapped the South Stream pipeline project to supply natural gas to southern Europe without crossing Ukraine, citing European Union objections, and instead named Turkey as its preferred partner for an alternative pipeline, with a promise of hefty discounts.

In Romans 10 Paul lays out how salvation is open to all, Jew and Gentile.  He writes:

The Burgeoning Threat

This week, I wrote a piece for the Times of Israel (http://blogs.timesofisrael.com/israels-battle-of-the-burge/), warning again about the growing attacks on Israel and Jews, from America’s evangelical leadership. This time, the Huffington Post allowed Wheaton professor Gary Burge to spread more of his propaganda.

Although many pro Israel sources lament this very troubling trend, most aren’t aware of how we got to this place. That background is what continues to fascinate me, and I think it’s important to understand what forces and conditions led to this moment, when Israel has a new threat to deal with: Evangelicals Against Israel.

The current American Church — which I would argue is now virtually synonymous with the Church Growth/Seeker-Driven model — is a strange mixture of liberalism and corporate structure.

When Peter Drucker and Leadership Network made the decision to infiltrate evangelicalism a few decades ago, they selected certain up-and-comer pastors like Rick Warren and Bill Hybels, who would be open to ecumenism and center-left perspectives. With regard to Israel, Hybels and his wife, Lynne (co-founders of the Willow Creek Association) had been mentored by pro Palestinian sources for years. Warren, of course, loathes Bible prophecy because it conflicts with his agenda of creating the Kingdom of God here, now.

It took a long time, but these change agents managed to begin changing the landscape in the American church, with regard to Israel and Zionism.

We now have Burge and many others advocating for the Palestinians.

But what were the other contributing factors to this erosion of support for Israel?

I’ve discussed before how liberal scholarship kicked into high gear in this country more than 100 years ago. Harry Emerson Fosdick, the famous “preacher” of the early last century, began to wage open warfare against Bible-believing Christians, and the results of the famous Scopes “Monkey Trial,” in Tennessee (where evolutionary concepts were mainstreamed and marketed) contributed to a marginalization of Christians.

This was the stage-setting period, which would take decades to bear fruit for liberals. The key idea was to introduce doubt in people’s minds about the Bible and in particular, the Old Testament.

In Calvin Johnson’s terrific book, “Beyond the Point of No Return,” we discover the beginnings of this agenda:

“The institutions of learning responsible for preparing the preachers for the pulpit had turned to humanism and universalism by at least the 20’s and 30’s. Most had adopted Darwinian humanistic psychology.”

Further, Johnson gives specifics that show an opening was created by these liberal teachers:

“Neo-Orthodoxy gave credence to two Biblical truths – the sinfulness of man and the need for a life-changing encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. However, it did not accept the miracles and the historical events of the Bible as true.”

The liberal, mainline denominations were already attacking the veracity of the Bible’s creation accounts in Genesis, and then they began casting doubt on the very origins of the Jewish people: the accounts of Abraham, Moses, Joshua…all were relegated either to myth or the misty realm of “semi-legend.”

Do you see how this would build a foundation to undermine Israel’s legitimacy later? In point of fact, many, many evangelical leaders would later forge a disconnect between modern Israel and the ancient Israelites.

Let me be clear: there is plenty of evidence that the modern Israelis are the direct descendants of David, Mordechai, Gideon, etc.

To allege otherwise is bizarre? Yet, major evangelical leaders have done just that. Men like Chuck Colson, D. James Kennedy, and Maxie Dunnam (former president of the only evangelical seminary of the United Methodist Church, Asbury) have denied that modern Israelis are connected to the biblical patriarchs.

This, my friends, is how we have arrived at a place where Israel’s natural alliance with the U.S., and specifically, evangelical Christian, is now in peril.

As I’ve stated many times, NOW is the time to commit more time to prayer, Bible study and, by extension, advocacy for Israel wherever you can.

We are in the endgame. Let’s finish well.

I thought the Pope was supposed to be a Biblical man? If he is he should know that there won’t be true peace between Israel and the Palestinians and believing in some UN pipe dream for the sake of peace is fruitless. But even more than that he’s revealed that he also doesn’t understand Islam, which at its core wants to destroy Israel. And this is exactly what the Palestinians want.

Sheesh. I’m not trying to dis the Pope, but this is a problem:

TIMES OF ISRAEL – Pope Benedict XVI told Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas Monday that he hopes the Palestinians’ upgrade to nonmember observer state at the UN will hasten the international community into finding a solution to its conflict with Israel.

The Palestinian leader is visiting Europe to thank countries that voted for the upgrade. Abbas met with the Pope to praise him for supporting the Palestinians’ recent bid. All European Union countries except for the Czech Republic either supported the motion or abstained from the vote.

The Holy See is the only other entity to hold the status of nonmember observer state at the UN.

The Vatican had warmly welcomed the vote, and a Vatican statement said that “it is hoped that this initiative will encourage the commitment of the international community to finding a fair and lasting solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Abbas chatted privately with Pope Benedict for 30 minutes and then met with the Vatican’s top diplomats. (more…)

It is astonishing to see people deceived and the deception spread.  We have seen what happens when our world detaches from the truth/reality, God’s word.

When everything is relative and a different shade of gray, black and white thinking is discouraged and punished until it is like a scarlet letter, and dare I say called “un-caring” and evil.

We are living in an “Up is Down”, “Black is White” (or not even White but a shade of gray), and “good is evil” world.

God said we would see these times, and when we did we were to look up, and lift up our heads for our salvation draws neigh!

Israel is not Legitimate

Just as Barack Obama came out in favor of same-sex marriage last year, calculating that the time was now right culturally, so too do Israel haters now feel emboldened to put their hands tightly on the lever of the hangman’s scaffolding.

An article this week from Jerome Slater from the Christian Science Monitor was quite instructive.

Many of us pro Israel activists have asked for a long time, “Why didn’t Israel get credit for pulling out of Gaza? After all, now it can’t be said they are ‘occupying’ the Strip anymore.”

Slater has answered that for us: It doesn’t matter.

By Slater’s reasoning—which is leftist worldview—Israel is still occupying the Gaza Strip, since the IDF maintains a perimeter presence. This of course is because Hamas (and, presumably, the larger Palestinian population, since they elected the terror group) likes to murder Jews. Yet, again, notice the chilling irony:

Israel no longer occupies Gaza, except that it does.

This passes for reality in 2013.

Great observation by Terry in his Nearing Midnight Column this week.  I have been (and will be) posting a lot of articles about Israel recently and there is a reason.

Matthew 24:31-33

New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)

31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.

Israel is the Fig Tree.  It is the sign Christ told us to look for.  As soon as we see events occur surrounding Israel we will know the season, the quarter or the month that we are in.  We will not (can not) know the day or the hour but we will know the season according to Jesus Himself.  We are to be watching.  The world is oblivious as well as most of those around us.  It is not because they could not know, but I think at this point, it is mostly because they do not want to know and that makes my heart heavy.  We are to busy chasing after the things of this world, to worry about the next.

Prophetic beliefs are not tied to salvation.  It is separate and a gift from God.  So I am sure many that are asleep may be saved but what a disservice it does to Christ Church, His bride, to not be awake and eagerly anticipating His return for us.  We are all, myself included, way to attached to this world.  We need to live in this world but not be of this world.

Israel should be a sign for us to wake up and look up as our redemption draws nigh…

Maranatha, Lord come quickly!

Israel’s Prophetic Positioning

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is, amazingly, being viewed as a moderate in the politically right-oriented Likud party these days. This fact shouldn’t go without considerable notice by those who look at Bible prophecy from the futurist viewpoint. Eschatologically speaking, this otherwise strange development as of late makes sense. Here’s what I mean.

Israel must somehow–for now–be kept in the world diplomatic loop. The Jewish state cannot afford to be totally marginalized to the point the nation has no one with whom to negotiate, or at least to talk with on the negotiating front. At the same time, elements within the present make-up of the Knesset and the government as a whole have reached the point they, in order to show resolve, have to adhere to a hard-line approach to Israel’s enemies, who pressure them to give in at every point of the international community’s demands. This resolve translates into intransigence in the thinking of most Israel-hating diplomats of the U.N.–i.e, Israel’s resolve is propagandized by diplomats and the world’s mainstream journalists as deliberately disruptive stubbornness in doing harm to the peace process.

Netanyahu currently wears his moderate, right-winger, actor’s mask effectively. This is to keep the channels open in dealing (more…)

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood Chief: Time to wage Holy Jihad against Israel and for Islamic nation to unite around one man

Wait! Why would a secular and peaceful organization that our own president said should participate in the governance of Egypt start spewing the language of terrorists? Have we been misled by our administration?

Read this:

TIMES OF ISRAEL – Egypt’s foremost Muslim Brotherhood official called on the Arab world Thursday to replace negotiations with Israel with “holy Jihad,” claiming that if Jews are allowed to pray on the Temple Mount they will destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and supplant it with the third temple.

Mohammed Badie, Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, declared in a public message published by Egyptian daily Al-Ahram that “the Zionists only understand force,” and that Arabs cannot hope to achieve justice from the Jews “through the corridors of the United Nations or through negotiations.” …

“The time has come for the Islamic nation to unite around one man for the sake of Jerusalem and Palestine,” Badie said. “The Jews have dominated the land, spread corruption on earth, spilled the blood of believers and in their actions profaned holy places, including their own.”

“Zionists only understand the language of force and will not relent without duress,” Badie continued. “This will only happen through holy Jihad, high sacrifices and all forms of resistance. The day they realize we will march this path and raise the banner of Jihad for the sake of God, is the day they will relent and stop their tyranny.”

I’d love to see the original translated from Arabic to English to understand the context of what he’s saying with regard to “the Islamic nation to unite around one man”. I know what that sounds like, but at present there is no caliphate unless that is understood in his original statement.

If you’re not certain you’re saved, here is what you should do, right now:
  1. Acknowledge that you have sinned against a holy God and ask for forgiveness (even if you don’t feel you deserve it) (Rom. 3:23).  Genuinely feel the pain of your sin and be willing to turn from it (repent) (Acts 3:19).
  2. Believe in your heart and mind that Jesus is the Son of God, that he died on the cross for you (John 3:1-18) in your place, and was raised back to life.  There is no one else you can turn to (John 14:6): “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”
  3. Confess that you are trusting Jesus as your personal Savior.  Since Jesus is alive, you can talk to him.  This is called prayer.  So talk to him right now, in your own words, accept his invitation to know him.
It’s simple faith through grace, the kind of faith a little child would have.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9)
Welcome brother or sister in Christ!  This is just the start of the journey, we are called to live in this world but not be of this world.  Begin studying God’s word (the Bible) daily to give you the strength and wisdom to live this calling out.  There are many sites like this that can help you as well.

Don’s article below is a great example of why we need to understand the audience and culture / makeup of the early church when studying God’s word.  It is invaluable and without it much misunderstanding can occur.

I often hear the charge leveled that Christians that believe in dispensationalism and the rapture do not believe in restoration but exactly the opposite is true.  The literal interpretation is the only way to read the bible.  God will restore this planet and He will rapture His church to fulfill His word.  Great article.

I have included the full text of Acts 1:1-11 that Don references below.  It would be good to review it before jumping in…

Acts 1:1-11

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Introduction

1 The first account I [a]composed, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day when He was taken up to heaven, after He had [b]by the Holy Spirit given orders to the apostles whom He had chosen. To [c]these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God. [d]Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for [e]what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized [f]with the Holy Spirit [g]not many days from now.”

So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

The Ascension

And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into [h]the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into [i]the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

The Early Church Believed in the Restoration

By Don McGee

Most in the church today deny even a remote possibility that the earth will ever be restored, and that the kingdom of God will ever have a place on such an earth. They further deny that God will ever install Israel as the pre-imminent nation on this refurbished earth. They believe the church is the only real kingdom of God, and belief in such a restoration is therefore erroneous. I believe this is a quantum leap from the viewpoint of the early church.

The early church did not see itself as an entity so spiritual and other-worldly that it did not, or could not have a place in the restored earth’s temporal future. Nearly all early Christians were Jews and they were very familiar with God’s promises to the patriarchs and with the words of the prophets. So, they had no reason to believe the kingdom of God, of which the newly birthed church was a part, was limited to what happened after Pentecost. They also understood that the church, whose existence and purpose were in the mind of God before the foundation of the world, did not void that aspect of God’s kingdom having to do with Israel. And it is in that context that the early disciple’s final question to Jesus before He left them had to do with restoring the kingdom to Israel (Acts 1:6).

That, however, changed when Gentiles began to be added to the church. Many of the early Gentile converts were from Asia Minor and Grecian Europe whose cultures had been under the strong influences of mystical religions, Gnosticism and various other pagan philosophies for generations. What makes this an important point is that those new Christians brought some of those old pagan beliefs with them as they came into the church. The apostle John forged a very strong argument against those insidious influences as seen in his letter we call 1 John.

The foundation of the Gnostic belief system is that the physical world is entirely bad, and is thus of no concern religiously. Only that which is spiritual is considered important. Of course, this opened the church door to all kinds of problems including rampant immorality. Thus, when those new believers encountered Old and New Testament scriptures having to do with the restoration of this physical earth and the presence of a physical earthly kingdom, they could not reconcile those texts with their ingrained Gnostic and mystic backgrounds. In due course, as some of them rose to places of leadership in the church, they fostered the spiritual, non-literal interpretation of prophecy, and it easily caught on.

Why was it so easy? To answer that question would require more space than that available here, but one of the major reasons was the influence of anti-Semitism. From early on Jews have been blamed for every malady Europe and the Middle East faced. Whether disease or natural disasters, it did not matter; it was the Jew’s fault. The result was that it was too much of a leap to admit, or to even consider that the earth will be restored, and that the pre-imminent nation will be a restored Israel. In this way contempt and hatred of the Jews skewed the interpretation of scripture, especially any text that pointed to the future glory of the Jews and the ascendency of Israel (e.g. Zechariah 8:23).

Most people attending mainline churches each Sunday, even self-labeled conservative churches, do not realize that their denominations are in lock-step with Islamic policy regarding Israel. Today not only do the Muslims blame the Jews for everything, but most of the Christian churches, denominations and councils, also. The unspoken, yet clearly evident thought is that the Gentile world, even the Gentile church, would rather not see this earth restored if that means a Jewish presence, much less if it means their being the pre-imminent nation.

Consider the question the disciples asked Jesus just before He ascended to heaven, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” His answer was, “It is not for you to know the times or the epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (Acts 1:6-8)

In order to side-step a thorough investigation into this question, the church universal shrugs it off claiming that the disciples were confused, did not understand what they were asking and that Jesus’ answer proves there will never be such a restoration. I don’t think so. Read verses 1-5.

Jesus had spent the forty days since His resurrection teaching His disciples, and there is no doubt He was addressing some very important things. One might wonder how much of what we think is important today was on His list. Luke, however, leaves no question about what He taught — it was all about the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3).

With that in mind consider that Jesus was the greatest teacher in all history, and that His disciples were receiving the most important instruction any group of disciples could ever hear, for they were to be the first with the message that would turn the world on its ear. We can be certain Jesus made no mistakes, was very clear, and would insure none of them would be confused when it was all over. To say they were confused is to miss that fact. It is obvious their question was in context with what Jesus had been talking about for 40 days.

So, why did they ask the question? Probably several reasons, not the least of which is that they were on the Mt. of Olives. They would have easily connected the prophet’s words, what Jesus had been teaching for 40 days, the exact spot where they were standing and that they were in the very presence of the prophesied King! What Jew would not have made the connection? They were dead on in their thinking, and Jesus’ answer actually reflected that point. It is clear He did not rebuke them for their question, for His answer had to do with the timing of the restoration and not the fact of the restoration.

The above is a section of the Mt. of Olives east of the Temple Mount’s Eastern Gate. For thousands of years Jews have been buried here because they know Messiah will return to this spot when He comes to set up His earthly kingdom, and they want to be resurrected there and then. Being Jews themselves, Jesus’ disciples were very familiar with those issues, and saw no contradiction between those prophecies and Jesus’ teaching about the kingdom. Nor did Jesus.

Well, what about the restoration? Basically, it encompasses two major aspects, the restoration of the earth and the restoration of Jerusalem, Israel as the city of the Great King — the capital of the world.

In Acts 3 Luke gives the account of Peter and John and the lame man who was healed. This caused quite a stir among both the people and the religious leaders, and in Peter’s message to the crowd he reminded them that the suffering of the Messiah was predicted by their prophets and was fulfilled in Jesus. In the next sentence Peter told his Jewish audience of repentance, removal of sin, times of refreshing and that God would send Jesus the Messiah. The modern church often overlooks how Peter used the word Messiah (Christ) instead the word “Savior”. He further says Messiah will remain in heaven “until the period of restoration of all things”; the period the prophets wrote and spoke about. The Jews had no need of an explanation for that term, for they were familiar with it and with its use by their ancient prophets. In fact, this is the time Paul had in mind when, about 25 years later, he said in Romans 8:19-22 that all creation longs to be set free from its slavery to the curse of corruption.

The restoration will include many things such as the elimination of war (Isaiah 2, Micah 4) and the removal of the curse (Isaiah 11). Israel as a nation will finally recognize that Jesus is indeed their Messiah (Zechariah 12), and Jesus will be King over all the earth with all the world going to Jerusalem to worship Him (Zechariah 14). David will be resurrected and will be installed over Israel as their prince (Ezekiel 34:23-24; 37:24ff).

God’s prophets and some of His New Testament writers wrote about this coming time of restoration, but they did not mention its duration. It is not until we get to Revelation 20 that God tells us through John that it will last 1000 years. This period is followed by Satan’s last rebellion, the great judgment of the unsaved, the destruction Peter told us about (2 Peter 3:10) and the eternal state with the new heavens, the new earth and the new Jerusalem.

One of King David’s greatest admonitions is for God’s people to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), for when there is “peace within her walls and prosperity within her palaces” then the entire world will experience the same. In these last days it is arguably true that when there is no peace in Jerusalem, there is no peace in the world. And, such peace will not happen in the church dispensation, for the church cannot deliver what she has not been given the right, ability or authority to deliver. Such peace will be by the hand of the Prince of Peace; His hand only, and He will do it in person.

I once saw a painting that was supposed to be a portrayal of Jerusalem at peace. The view was from the Mt. of Olives looking across the Temple Mount. Beams of light shone through beautiful clouds with the Star of David formed by the varied texture of their shadows. The buildings were brightly colored, and splendid greenery covered the mount. However, in the middle of the picture was the Islamic Dome of the Rock. Without questioning the intentions of the artist, his understanding of God’s prophets and current events was severely limited. When real peace comes there will be no Dome of the Rock and no Al Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount.

The question of the disciples in Acts chapter one is no surprise in that it is not the first time they had asked Jesus about His kingdom. In Matthew 19:23ff we find another account of Jesus teaching His disciples about the kingdom of God. During that conversation Peter reminded the Lord that they had left everything to follow Him, and he wondered if there would be anything for them in His kingdom. Jesus did not impatiently sigh and rebuke him for his question. In fact, His answer was very clear about the coming “regeneration”.

Three things jump out of that text regarding the regeneration. First, there is going to be one. Second, it will be inaugurated when Jesus sits on His thrown. Note, too, Revelation 3:21 about His throne being distinguished from His Father’s throne. And third, the 12 apostles will sit upon their own thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Gnostics reject this hands down, and most modern Christians also. But, mere rejection in itself does not explain away the temporal context of both the question and Jesus’ answer. If Peter’s question would have been out of order Matthew would have recorded Jesus’ correction for all future Christian generations to see and clearly understand. That did not happen.

It is beyond question that we are looking for the rapture of the church. Yet, we are also looking forward to the restoration, the regeneration. We will rule with Jesus on a restored earth where peace will abound, the media will not be biased, Islam and all other religious and cultural threats will be gone, mortals will not govern, but will be governed, no profanity will be heard in family restaurants, children will not be threatened by bullies or sexual deviants, fishing ponds will abound, lakes and streams will be clean along with the air…the list could go on. That is why Jesus calls it the “restoration”, or “regeneration”. I cannot say what anybody’s specific job will be, but we can know this: it will be much better than anything this wretched, evil and miserable world has to offer. Maranatha!

Israel readies ‘secret weapon’ for Iran attack

Mike Evans: Netanyahu ‘under pressure’ to delay until after U.S. election

Israel sees Iranian nuclear weapons as an existential threat, and plans are in place to carry out strikes to cripple the nuclear program by the middle of next month. Middle East expert Mike Evans says his discussions with top Israeli officials this week suggest there is a strong likelihood the attacks will take place between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15.

Evans estimates a 75 percent chance that strikes will be carried out in that 30-day window. Evans says high-ranking Israeli leaders also tell him they have a secret weapon they intend to deploy for any strikes, but they would not tell Evans what that weapon is. He believes the likely weapon is an electromagnetic pulse (EMP), which would cripple Iran’s power grid.

“Israel is trying to get a hard promise from the U.S. that they’ll support an attack,” Evans told WND.

Evans says he’s not surprised that the Obama administration is telling Israel and Iran that the U.S. will not back any Israeli attacks. He also reports that CIA Director David Petraeus and other American officials are strongly pressuring Israeli leaders to hold off on attacks before the U.S. elections. Evans explains what sort of ironclad promises from President Obama could convince Israel to stand down temporarily.

WND Senior Staff Reporter Jerome Corsi reported in 2009 on a “secret weapon” being developed and tested by Israel.

The test was done at an undisclosed Israeli military base, but few details were uncovered at the time. It was confirmed that the military specifically designed the weapon to be used in a possible conflict with Iran.

One of my previous posts talked about my concerns about the emergent church.  I have always struggled to  understand how they convinced so many to follow them down the wide road.  But I think it is really two things:

First, they discourage the study of your Bible, “leave your bible at home they say, it is too divisive, and will scare people off.”  We need to moderate our ways they say.  But this is the wrong direction, how can you know what God said if you do not study His word? (Study, not just read.)  Christ was very clear on every topic we need to navigate this world and also on which Rock we need to lean on, and build our house.  If you do not know God’s word and the context that come with studying His word, then how can you verify (discern) truth from deception.  They are not arming you with the Word of God to go forth and help those in need.  Instead they say tread lightly, join their groups, bend your will to their as not to scare them off.  That is not how Christ did it.  He did not change or appeal to anything of this world.  He stood boldly and proclaimed: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Secondly, the Emergent church discourages any study of prophecy.  This disarms us further and robs us of the hope that is so essential to life in this world.  What was it that Christ used to convince those that questioned or disbelieved who he was?  He used prophecy, over 300 prophecies of his coming that he fulfilled – 100%.  If we don’t study prophecy how can we know He is who He says He is beyond a shadow of a doubt.  Strongly enough to lay down your life for him, that is they type of strong assurance you get from studying the prophecies of his 1st coming.  Likewise, we need to use prophecy to wake people up to the times they live in and show them why they need Christ, and why it is so urgent to make a decision to ask Christ into their lives.  People need to know why they need a parachute (need to be saved) before they will be open to it.  “The plane is crashing, but I have a parachute for you” is a lot different from “here is a parachute, you really need it”.

Those are the two big glaring things they are trying to drive from the church: knowing and studying the Bible, and knowing and studying Bible prophecy.  It is scary how effective they are at infiltrating our churches.

Christ in John 14:6 said: “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”  He did not say “I am a way and a truth and a life…”

He is the way, the only way.  The only way to come to the Father.  He is the narrow path.  The emergent church is steering many onto the wide path that leads to destruction.

Jim Fletcher does a good job laying out some of the key players in this great deception and what to watch for…

(Read Jim’s column on Rick Warren at www.wnd.com/2012/08/rick-warrens-unholy-reign-as-americas-pastor/)

An Unholy Reign

The piece I wrote for WorldNetDaily this week, about Rick Warren, has already produced a huge response. So much so that I wanted to take the opportunity at Israel Watch to once again discuss “Pastor Rick’s” influence regarding evangelical support for Israel.

Few people are unaware of Rick Warren’s influence. Over 30 million copies of The Purpose Driven Life have been sold. Warren regularly boasts of training a quarter million pastors in his PD marketing scheme. He gave the invocation at Barack Obama’s inauguration. The pastor of Saddleback Church in southern California—one of the very largest congregations in the U.S.—is constantly interviewed by media. He counts Tony Blair and Bono as friends.

And there is plenty of circumstantial evidence that he is no friend of Israel.

I should preface my remarks by saying that the “average” evangelical is not aware of Warren’s background or present-day associations that are really at odds with biblical Christianity. For those who have the time (and I literally urge you to find the time; I have each of the following books, along with the Kindle versions that are available); there are several key resources that will stun the reader:

  • The New Evangelicalism, by Paul Smith
  • Redefining Christianity, by Bob DeWaay
  • A Time of Departing, by Ray Yungen
  • A Wonderful Deception, by Warren Smith
  • The Dark Side of the Purpose Driven Church, by Noah Hutchings

Am I really endorsing these books and prompting you to get them?

Yes, and with as much urgency as I can muster. I wouldn’t waste your time or money if I didn’t think each of the books mentioned above weren’t vital to a proper understanding of Rick Warren, the change agent. Each provides compelling evidence that Something Wicked This Way Comes to evangelicalism.

Actually, it’s already here.

Change agents began operating behind the scenes decades ago, working to transfer classic liberal theology to mainstream evangelicalism. When I was a teenager, no self-respecting pastor in America would have been caught dead even standing next to Brian McLaren. Yet in Dan Kimball’s 2003 book, The Emerging Church, forewords were written by…Rick Warren and Brian McLaren. Additionally, the cover reveals that commentary was provided by Warren, Howard Hendricks, McLaren, Sally Morgenthaler, Chip Ingram, and Mark Oestreicher.

(For a thorough critique of McLaren’s aberrant theology, I strongly urge you to search for his name at www.apprising.org)

Liberals love to complain that “critics” use “guilt by association” to unfairly characterize them. This is classic evasion with a generous helping of illogic.

We can all be measured by our associations. I associate with Bible prophecy teachers. It means that, in general, we believe the same things. For example, I treasure my friendship with David Reagan, because he is a bold witness in a dark world. If a liberal wanted to criticize me for associating with Dave, I’d say, “Thank you, sir, may I have another?”

Liberals do not like it when their associations are brought to light because, as Spurgeon used to say, darkness hates the light.

Back when I was in college, we use to test metal samples in a tensile stress (tension) machine.  We would stretch the metal bar samples until the broke recording the stress curve and final break point.  We would watch the metal bend and stretch, sure in the next second it would snap, but it wouldn’t time and time again and then when you finally would take a breath, pop, the metal sample would snap.

A lot of Bible prophecy feels like this, we think that the tension level could not get any higher without snapping and yet we reach another level and we repeat the same thoughts, how could it get any worst and not see prophecy events occur?

We are at one of these points where we are flinching ready for it to pop and prophecy to unfold.

What will happen?  Only God knows.

Buildup to Sudden Destruction

Rumors of war in the Middle East continue and grow by the day. We have heard of such Armageddon-like conflict that is coming for most of a decade. It’s almost like the little boy who cried “wolf,” but not quite.

Anyone with any sense of the potential for conflagration in that volatile region that could bring worldwide war knows that the breaking point has now about been reached. Iran’s nuclear weapon development project–or the fear that their nuclear program is for developing weapons of mass destruction—is, of course, the primary reason for the tensions involved.

Three observable factors are on the stepped-up agenda of potential war consideration: 1) Israel is in a top-alert configuration, talking more or less openly about its most advanced defensive capabilities; 2) Iran is expressing fear of imminent attack from Israel, and is hustling to protect its nuclear program; 3) The Israeli prime minister and his military have a strong sense that they must depend only on their own resolve, not that of their one-time staunch, superpower ally to defend the Jewish state.

There are a tremendous amount of headlines on a coming conflict between the Nation of Israel and the nations that surround her.  Even more than usual, which is saying something.  There are also some troubling trends with the Muslim Brotherhood and the return of the barbaric nature of Sharia Law with Crucifixions coming back in Egypt, the last nation to fall to the “Arab Spring”.

Folks time is short, things are escalating.  From my reading of the scriptures and the prophecies God has laid out for us, Psalm 83, Isaiah 17, Isaiah 19, Zechariah 12:3, and even Ezekiel 38 are formulating right in front of us.

We need to reach out to those that do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior and make sure they have the option to choose Him before it is too late.

Report: ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ starts crucifixions…

The Arab Spring takeover of Egypt by the Muslim Brotherhood has run amok, with reports from several different media agencies that the radical Muslims have begun crucifying opponents of newly installed President Mohammed Morsi.  Middle East media confirm that during a recent rampage, Muslim Brotherhood operatives “crucified those opposing Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi naked on trees in front of the presidential palace while abusing others.”

Iran proposes military alliance of Muslim countries
It is necessary to create a military alliance of Muslim countries. It can be created in order to repel an attack on the Muslim countries, as well as to protect the Palestinian people, the Mehr news agency quoted Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi as saying at today’s meeting at the Ministry of Defense.-He said the Muslim countries should unite for a just solution to the Palestinian problem.

Iran: Israel’s existence ‘insult to all humanity’…

Israel’s existence is an “insult to all humanity,” Iran’s president said Friday in one of his sharpest attacks yet against the Jewish state, as Israel openly debates whether to attack Iran over its nuclear program.  Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said confronting Israel is an effort to “protect the dignity of all human beings.”  “The existence of the Zionist regime is an insult to all humanity,” Ahmadinejad said. He was addressing worshippers at Tehran University after nationwide pro-Palestinian rallies, an annual event marking Quds (Jerusalem) Day on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

Saudi Cleric: Jews consume blood of children…

A prominent Saudi Arabian religious cleric declared that the Holocaust is an “exaggeration” and that Jewish people consume the blood of children during a wide-ranging interview with an Arabic television station.  Saudi cleric Salman Al-Odeh, a well-known scholar revered by millions globally, went on a lengthy tirade against the Jews during an interview Monday in which he stated that “the role of the Jews is to wreak destruction, to wage war, and to practice deception and extortion,” according to a translation of his remarks by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

Hezbollah’s vow to turn Israel into ‘a real hell’…

The leader of the Lebanese Shiite militant Hezbollah, which has ties to Iran, says his group will transform the lives of millions of Israelis to “hell” if Israel attacks Lebanon.  Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah says the group has a list of Israeli targets that it can hit with few rockets.  “We can transform the lives of millions of Zionists in occupied Palestine to a real hell,” he said.

Israeli could attack Iran without causing a major war in the region
Over the last few days, Israeli newspapers have been consumed by reports that the prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, has decided to launch an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities some time this autumn. Although Netanyahu has an obvious interest in increasing pressure on Iran, it would be an error to regard these reports as simple rhetorical sensationalism. In my opinion, whether this year or next, Israel is likely to use its airforce to attack Iran.

Senior Israeli: ‘Home front is ready as never before in the country’s history
Israel has assessed that it must prepare for a month-long war with Iran and its proxies.

Israeli minister warns of 30-day war with Iran
A strike on Iran’s nuclear sites would spark a 30-day war with missile attacks on Israel’s cities and as many as 500 dead, according to the Israeli minister responsible for preparing home defences.

Israel’s trigger finger grows itchy over the nuclear threat from Iran
If the rhetoric coming from the defence ministry in Tel Aviv is to be believed, the option of destroying Iran’s nuclear facilities with a series of air strikes is being considered more seriously than ever before. Indeed some anonymous briefings to the Israeli media come close to suggesting that a decision to launch a new Operation Opera has already been taken, with timing the only remaining issue.

UN monitors quit, saying Syrians choose “path of war”
– Syria’s government and rebels have “chosen the path of war”, a U.N. peacekeeping chief said as the world body ended its doomed monitoring mission to Damascus and deadlock persists among world powers over how to contain the spreading conflict. Two weeks after former U.N. secretary-general Kofi Annan quit as mediator in frustration with the failure of a four-month-old truce, military observers have no peace on the ground to monitor and U.N. officials said on Thursday the last of the few dozen remaining team members would quit Damascus by August 24. “It is clear that both sides have chosen the path of war…

Iran’s Ahmadinejad says no place for Israel in new Middle East
Many thousands of Iranians shouted “Death to America, death to Israel” during state-organized protests on Friday and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told them there was no place for the Jewish state in a future Middle East.

Securing Syria chemical weapons may take tens of thousands of troops
The United States and its allies are discussing a worst-case scenario that could require tens of thousands of ground troops to go into Syria to secure chemical and biological weapons sites following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s government, according to U.S. and diplomatic officials.

US, allies discuss worst-case scenario in Syria
Diplomatic sources say as many as 50,000 or 60,000 ground forces would be needed to prevent Syria’s chemical weapons from reaching terror groups

Israel will vanish‚ says Khamenei
Israel is an artificial “outgrowth” in the Middle East that “will disappear,” Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said ahead of rallies on Friday against the Jewish state and supporting the Palestinians. -Also Wednesday, Gholam Reza Jalali, a former commander of the Revolutionary Guards and current head of Iran’s Civil Defense Organization, said that Quds Day “is an expression of the fact that there is no other way but to stand firm and resist until Israel is destroyed.”

Saudi king sits next to Iran’s Ahmadinejad in goodwill gesture
Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah seated Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at his side to welcome leaders to a summit on Wednesday, an apparent conciliatory gesture before the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation suspends the membership of Iran’s ally Syria.

Israeli military: Blasts heard in southern city
Explosions rocked the southern Israeli city of Eilat late Wednesday, and the military said it suspected that rockets were fired from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. No casualties or damage were reported. Eilat is a Red Sea resort next to Sinai, scene of many militant attacks in recent months. On Aug. 5, Sinai militants killed 16 Egyptian soldiers where the borders of Egypt, Israel and Gaza converge.

Syria crisis: Blast near Damascus military compound
A large explosion has struck close to a military compound in the Syrian capital, Damascus, near a hotel used by the UN’s observer mission. Syrian state TV reported that three people had been injured in the blast, but that none of them were UN monitors. The intended target of the explosion was not immediately clear.

Al-Qaeda’s ‘suicide bombers wanted’ ad
Apparently low on bombers, al-Qaeda is running a (short-term) employment advertisement on its Shumukh al-Islam Internet forum. Under the heading “Area of activity: The planet Earth,” the ad seeks jihadists to carry out suicide attacks. Applicants must be Muslim, mentally mature, dedicated, able to listen, and utterly committed to completing their mission, the Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Tuesday.

Amazing article by Jack Kelly, he really lays out what we have seen happen over the last 100 years as God sets the stage for the last days.  From Israel’s return, to the fall of the USSR making way for the revived Roman enpire, to the fall of the USA we are seeing today.  He makes clearly focuses on not just what we have seen but what we should have our eye on.  God’s promises to us, His church, and His will for us until His Son returns to claim His bride in the air.  It is really something to ponder…

Standing In The Way

by Jack Kelly

There are lots of news reports, articles, and even books devoted to the deteriorating state of America and speculating on the likely outcome. Reading them has brought several things to my mind.

As an example, I remembered something Hal Lindsey said 20 years ago about the then current world situation. He said he had been wondering how God was going to fulfill end times prophecy while the Soviet Union was standing in the way of the revived Roman Empire taking its prophesied place in the end times.

The term “revived Roman Empire” comes from Daniel’s interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream as a prophecy of “Gentile Dominion”, the time during which Gentile Empires would rule the world. (Daniel 2:31-43).

In the dream Nebuchadnezzar saw a large poly-metallic statue, and Daniel interpreted it to represent four Kingdoms. Many scholars believe the head of gold stood for Babylon, the chest and arms of silver symbolized Media Persia, who conquered Babylon. The belly and thighs of bronze pointed to Greece who defeated the Persians. The legs of iron represented Rome who replaced the Greeks.

Finally came the feet and toes, part of the legs and made partly of iron like the legs, but different in that they were also composed partly of baked clay. Daniel called them a divided kingdom, partly strong and partly weak (Daniel 2:41-42).

The Roman Empire was never completely conquered. Instead it split into eastern and western legs, versions of which have always been visible on the world scene. Since the feet and toes are the last phase of Gentile Dominion before the God of Heaven will set up a Kingdom of His own (Daniel 2:44) and since the statue only represents four kingdoms, scholars call them the revived Roman Empire.

How Will This Happen?

OK. Let’s go back to Hal’s question. Remember, before its fall in the early 1990s all of Eastern Europe including half of Germany was under Soviet control. This was a significant portion of the old Roman Empire. He wondered how the USSR would be defeated so the end times version of the Roman Empire could emerge.

Then we all received the answer loud and clear when for all intents and purposes the Soviet Union suddenly ceased to exist. It wasn’t defeated by an external enemy, but crumbled from within under a crippling burden of debt. The debt was the result of a combination of problems, including a disastrous war in Afghanistan, an unsustainable arms race with the US, and the inability to support the resulting increase in government spending in a declining Soviet economy.

Remembering Hal’s comment made me think how similar the world situation is today, only now it’s the US standing in the way of end times prophecy. Israel can’t experience the utter abandonment that will leave God as its only hope against powerful, hate filled enemies until the US has been neutralized. Like the Soviet Union, we could crumble from within for the same reasons they did. A catastrophic natural disaster, a coordinated series of terrorist attacks, or the rapture of the Church would also get the US out of God’s way. But something will have to happen to clear the way for the next phase of the end times, because just as the USSR was not part of Nebuchadnezzar’s statue, neither is the USA.

Zechariah 12:3 – a burdensome stone.

All nations will stand/turn against Israel or put another way, no one will stand with them.  This is occurring as we speak.  Israel is more aware of this than we are and they are becoming bolder out of necessity.

Great article about what we are seeing… it is simply stunning to see God’s Word fulfilled.

It has never been wrong, ever.

He is the Rock we need to build our faith and our lives on.

Jerusalem’s Burdensome Stone

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again thrown down the proverbial gauntlet. Despite his playing to the news cameras and to the international community diplomatic forces trying to force the Jewish state to divide the city where Jesus was crucified, when push comes to shove, Netanyahu says a resounding “NO” to Jerusalem being divided.

The prime minister has, as pointed out before, learned to talk the talk in playing the game to agree on matters of forging some sort of a peace. This is a trick long utilized by PLO head Yasser Arafat and most other Islamists when it comes to seeming to agree to move ahead with peace, but always changing some things at just the right time in the process to prevent negotiations from ever actually coming to fruition. Netanyahu, however, makes no bones about the status of Jerusalem in his thinking.

He said, upon becoming prime minister the first time around: “I will never allow Jerusalem to be divided again. Never! Never! We will keep Jerusalem united and … we will never resurrender those ramparts… Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel for 3,000 years since the time of King David and we don’t expect to change that for the next 3,000 years!”

One of the most obvious signs that we are living in the end times is the existence of Israel.  Israel as a country was created in a single day and has existed since, just as Ezekiel prophesied God said it would.  It is one of two key prophecies that push me to a premillennial perspective.  As soon as they were joined as a nation again, Zachariah’s prophecy 12:3 began to slowing creep toward fulfillment.

Zechariah 12:3 has been amazing to watch it come to pass.  I remember when I started reading the Left Behind Series and getting into prophecy that it was one that I just couldn’t get over.  I had so many questions, there were so many theories/beliefs to unpack.  But Zechariah 12:3 is one I just couldn’t see happening.  How could every nation,  turn its back on Israel?  Surely not the US, the UK, and Canada?  But here we sit, everyday our administration continues to take a stronger and stronger stance against Israel and for her enemies.  It is simply amazing.

Jim does a great job laying out the stunning nature of this change in the winds we are seeing.  Prophecy is in the process of being fulfilled right in front of us, all we have to do is take he time to look.

It’s the Holy City, Stupid

There is a key element of reality in our world today that most entire countries simply don’t get. They don’t get it because they have bought into the propaganda that the Bible is not credible.

Too bad for them.

Whenever someone asks me, “What is the one sign we are living in the last days?” I always answer one word: “Israel.”

It’s obvious. And the obviousness of the painfully obvious is lost on a clueless world.

I don’t think people who ask me this question are stupid; I do think the global community as a whole is stupid for blatantly rejecting the specialness of Israel and the Jewish people.

We have more clues this week that Bible prophecy is true, and the broad lines of the time of the end can be seen.

HonestReporting posted an article exposing the bias of The Guardian, the British paper that printed a “correction,” alleging that Israel’s capital is Tel Aviv, rather than Jerusalem.

(We must understand, “Israel Watch” readers, that appealing to the Bible holds little weight in today’s culture. In what is called a “postmodern culture,” the Bible is derided as an outdated myth.)

The paper’s own style guide says: “Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel; Tel Aviv is.

This isn’t a surprise, since the British long ago ceased to be a Bible-believing people. It follows that the British media would concede the Jerusalem issue to the Muslims.

Terry really nailed what I have been feeling over the last couple of weeks.  I have been reading a lot of articles and listening to a lot of video on current events without a lot of time to post them.

His article below sums up precisely what I have been feeling.  It is well worth the read and time to ponder the message.

At Sodom’s Gate

My mind is impressed, as the day of Israel’s sixty-fourth birth into the modern era arrives, that God’s dealing with man seems about to make full circle. By that, I mean that the Book given to humanity that is his love letter and His manual for living life on this planet, given through His chosen nation, opens, in my spiritual mind, to the pages of the time of Lot and his life in Sodom.

It seems to me that we can sense, if we consider the headlines today, the angels of judgment at the gates of our own nation. Are they there, sent by the Lord of Heaven, after having entertained the efforts of God’s servants–like Abraham those thousands of years ago—to find, percentage-wise, ten righteous people who have a heart for the things of the Lord?

Israel is the prototype nation–i.e., all successive nations have had Israel to use as a template of how to act, not act, react, and conduct the affairs within the human conditions of their time in the spotlight of history. We are at just such a time of examination, in my estimation, of our own much blessed country.

It is striking to me that a first-time author has hit it big with a book that deals almost precisely with the premise of this commentary. The Harbinger by Jonathan Cahn uses just such a template to dissect the Almighty’s dealings with Israel as juxtaposed against the recent history of America.

This isn’t a review of that book, so I won’t say a great deal about it. Suffice it to say that I find the relevant points of similarities between the two nations quite remarkable, as presented by the author. I recall my own opening remarks in a book written not long after the attacks on the U.S. of September 11, 2001, as I reflect on what Mr. Cahn has written.

Television screens across America and the world repeatedly flashed videotape of the huge passenger jet crashing full-throttle into the enormous building. Dazed people watched in awestruck disbelief while trapped victims leaped from the building’s top floors, some holding hands with others when they jumped. The massive twin towers disintegrated and crumbled to flaming rubble. It was the most heinous terrorist attack ever recorded. Almost immediately, angry, frightened people began demanding answers to the insanity now forever etched in their memories. Many churches were filled the Sunday following the attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. There was an instinctive sense that those murderous acts of terrorism were somehow foreordained. That the carnage now known as “Ground Zero” and the uncertain future is, in some troubling way, linked by prophetic destiny. (Prophecy at Ground Zero: From Today’s Middle East Madness to the Second Coming of Christ.)

The author of The Harbinger reaches much of the same sorts of conclusions as did the authors who collaborated with me in our book, released in 2002. He gets much more specific about Ground Zero in Lower East Manhattan than did we, providing some really chilling similarities between things written in prophecy about Israel and their fulfillment, and what has happened in America since that fateful 9/11 date. He does a credible job of postulating–with strong scriptural backing—on how the U.S. judgment looks to have begun taking place in earnest at the time the towers fell on September 11, 2001.

The bottom line is that events just this past week bring home in an almost eerie way that the angels of judgment must be at the very gates of our own nation. We have long recounted the many signals of impending prophetic fulfillment. The nation Israel is at the center of hatred in the U.N.; the reviving Roman Empire is rearranging daily into prophetic configuration; the “Roadmap to Peace” plan is being pushed to make Israel conform to the wishes of the international community; the world is moving swiftly toward one world–especially toward global economy that threatens to bring the dollar down and install some sort of electronic funds transfer system.

As if that weren’t enough evidence of where we stand on God’s prophetic timeline, there is Russia, Iran, Turkey, and the whole Islamic world coming together in a way that indicates the Gog-Magog prophecy of Ezekiel 38-39 is shaping for soon fulfillment. China represents a growing hegemonic threat not only in all of Asia, but in the whole world, economically speaking.

And now, astonishingly, the first sitting president of the United States in history, on the heels of his vice president first doing so, puts America directly at the gates of Sodom with his declaration that marriage should be made legal as between a man and a man and a woman and a woman. That is, it would indeed be astonishing—except that the U.S. citizenry have been desensitized by years of news and entertainment media inculcation, putting forward the idea that there is no difference between heterosexual and homosexual relationships. So, where at one time–no more than a decade ago—an incumbent president proposing such a thing would have sealed his own defeat, we now have no way of knowing if it will adversely affect his election chances.

Again, we hear the words of Jesus echo in forewarning of when He will next catastrophically intervene into earth’s history: “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed” (Luke 17:28-30).

If you have not asked Christ into your life, the essential gospel is that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and that He was raised on the third day (1 Cor. 15:3-4).  Believing this is the only qualification for salvation.  We are sinners in need of a savior.  Jesus died for our sins, and to prove that His death was sufficient for us,  God raised Him from the dead on the third day. Believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead is our assurance that He will raise us, too.
3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, (1 Cor. 15:3-4).

When ever Joel lays out the relationship between prophecy and the events we are seeing today, I tend to listen.  He has always stayed true to God’s Word on the topic, which is why I think he has such a good track record.

The quote from the host Pastor of the conference really summed up well the feelings I have been having recently.

“It seems that there is a sense in the spiritual air we breathe that things are unraveling quickly. The slide is not unstoppable. It will take a great awakening, a supernatural intervention, an act of God, to turn us back from the precipice toward which we run.”

Time is Short, we need to step up our effort of outreach as a church, it is no time for our churches to be asleep at the wheel.  The Rapture draws near!

God Bless!

PREPARE CHURCHES FOR INEVITABLE: America, Israel and the Church are at risk

February 13, 2012
By Joni B. Hannigan, Managing Editor, Florida Baptist Witness

JACKSONVILLE (FBW)—The handwriting is on the wall and war between Iran and Israel is imminent, Joel Rosenberg, an evangelical Christian and New York Times best-selling author, told the last session of the First Baptist Jacksonville Pastors’ Conference Jan. 29.

“War is coming,” Rosenberg said. “You and I are living in an extraordinary moment in one of the most dangerous moments in the history of our country; one of the most dangerous moments in the history of Israel and the Middle East; and one of the most dangerous moments in the history of the church.”

And the question is, “Are we ready for what could be coming?”

Geopolitical Details

09-19-2011

Modern Israel, as we consistently say, is the number-one signal of where this generation stands on God’s prophetic timeline. That nation is, therefore, the best example in the geopolitical arena to use for focusing on details of issues and events shaping the stage-setting for Bible prophecy fulfillment. The student who watches Bible prophecy develop from the premillennial, pretrib viewpoint has, with clarity others can’t see, I think, seen Israel come back into its own land, with its ancient national language restored. It did so following a miraculous rebirth into modernity on a single day, just as prophesied (Isa. 66: 6-9). The intricate details of the amazing rebirth are there to be gleaned by the hundreds, if not thousands.

Israel is at the Heart of Prophecy

Nov 29, 2010

I was talking with a friend recently, and we were discussing questions we get while speaking.

One of the most popular is, “How do we know we are in the last days?” A perhaps more popular version of this question is, “How do we know Jesus is coming back soon?”

Ninety-nine percent of the time, I hear this question answered with a New Testament verse or verses. That of course is legitimate. However, there is a fascinating reference in the Old Testament, and it has become my favorite answer.

In Psalm 102:16, we read:

“When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.”

Preterists and others hostile to Israel and predictive prophecy answer that this must refer to Christ’s first coming. Yet…was the Lord building Zion on that electric night in Bethlehem? An emphatic “no.”

The Romans were pressing the inhabitants of the Holy Land under a dictatorial heel at that precise moment, and for a few centuries after that. In fact, after several decades of Jewish sovereignty under the leadership and aftermath of the Maccabees, who had taken control of Judea from the Seleucid Empire, that sovereignty came to an end.

In the first century, B.C., this Jewish rebel army gave way to the powerful Romans.

So at that stage of history, the Lord was not building Zion.

He has, however, been building Zion since the late 19th century, and now millions of Jews live in their ancestral land.

See where Obama’s wrath is headed after midterms

JERUSALEM – White House officials told the Palestinians that President Obama is waiting until after the Nov. 2 midterm elections to press Israel harder for a deal to create a Palestinian state, a senior Palestinian Authority official told WND.

The PA official said Obama believes pressure against Israel now could have a negative impact for Democrats in local elections, including in many districts where support for Israel has become a campaign issue.

After the midterms, the U.S. will continue to press Israel to agree to a complete halt to Jewish construction in eastern Jerusalem and the strategic West Bank, the senior PA official said.

Also, the White House is considering backing a United Nations declaration to create a unilateral Palestinian state if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not agree to demands in peace talks, said the official.

Berlusconi: ‘We hope that Israel doesn’t attack Iran’

Italian PM reportedly doubts that sanctions will be effective, favors “a more gentle approach” with China and Russia’s help.

Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi reportedly said he hopes Israel does not attack Iran, and expressed doubts about the effectiveness of sanctions, according to Friday’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, a German daily.

“Regarding Israel, we can only hope that the nuclear threat is not viewed as so great that Israel takes military action against Iran,” Berlusconi was quoted as saying.

Berlusconi was also quoted as telling Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that, although Italy has participated in the sanctions, “I fear that sanctions will not bring success.”

He said sanctions have tended to reinforce regimes in countries such as Cuba, and “a gentle and circumspect approach would be more helpful,” the newspaper reported

New Survey Indicates Large Oil Field Buried Under Negev Sand

A new preliminary geological survey indicates 26 million barrels of recoverable oil—worth $2 billion—may be sitting underneath the sandy soil in the area of two kibbutzim in the Western Negev, near Gaza.

Energtek announced it has received a geological survey on the Nir-am—Sa’ad block, “identifying the potential for exploitable oil and natural gas reserves.” Its subsidiary Energtek Products has the exclusive license to explore and exploit the resources in the area.

The firm added, “Current estimates will need to be confirmed by additional studies. Additional seismic analysis, modeling and further verifications are required to compile more accurate data on the fields and to provide more accurate reports on actual recoverable reserves.”

Barak: US will supply Israel with bunker busters

Defense minister to meet with top US security officials in DC; Jerusalem believes Washington will agree to supply Israel with advanced cruise missiles, bombs designed to penetrate underground facilities

Defense Minister Ehud Barak is visiting Washington once again ahead of planned meetings with top security officials in the American administration.

Barak is expected to meet several top ranking officials Monday in order to secure new and advanced weaponry for Israel, especially in view of the latest arms deals in the Middle East.

The recent Russian ballistic missile sale to Syria and the arms deal between the US and Saudi Arabia, have Israel seeking to widen the technological gap in warfare between the IDF and Arab militaries.

Jerusalem is optimistic and believes Washington will agree to meet previously declined demands for advanced weaponry, such as “bunker busters” – bombs which are designed to penetrate hardened undergound targets – such as bunkers, as implied by their name – as well as advanced cruise missiles.

Expert: Complaint Against Hamas War Crimes is Futile

Israel is still reeling from the firing of two phosphorous bombs at its territory from Gaza on Tuesday – a war crime under international law.

The IDF confirmed on Wednesday that the onslaught of ten mortar shells and two Kassam rockets fired at Israel the day before from Gaza included two phosphorous bombs. Police sources said three of the shells were phosphorous. Following the barrage, the Israel Air Force struck back, leading to the death of an Arab arms smugger in one of the many tunnels leading from Egypt to Gaza.
